About This Course

Surveillance is the eyes and ears of public health. Based on the WHO Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) framework and the International Health Regulations, this course trains health workers to detect, report, verify, and respond to epidemic-prone diseases in South Sudan. Learners will master case definitions, immediate and weekly reporting, alert thresholds, outbreak investigation steps, contact tracing, and the fundamentals of risk communication. Real examples, cholera, measles, malaria, meningitis, hepatitis E, and viral haemorrhagic fevers, make the concepts concrete. The course is essential for clinicians, surveillance officers, county health teams, and community health workers.
