About This Course

Infection prevention and control protects patients, health workers, and communities from health-associated infections. Based on WHO core components and guidelines, this course equips health workers in South Sudan with practical IPC skills: hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, safe injection and waste management, environmental cleaning, transmission-based precautions, and IPC programme management. The course is designed for all cadres, from community health workers to facility managers, and pays special attention to low-resource settings, outbreak contexts such as Ebola and cholera, and practical solutions that work with limited supplies.

- Explain how infections spread in health facilities and why IPC matters
- Perform hand hygiene correctly at the right moments
- Select, don, and doff personal protective equipment appropriately

Prerequisites

Open to all health workers and students. Basic clinical training is helpful but the course is suitable for community health workers, cleaners, porters, and support staff, whose IPC role is critical.
