Digital Health for Community Health Workers

About This Course

Community health workers (CHWs) are the health system's frontline, and digital tools are transforming what they can do: register pregnancies, report disease signals, guide assessments with decision support, and stay connected to supervisors. This practical course, designed for CHWs, CHW supervisors, and programme staff, covers the mobile toolkit (basic smartphone skills, data collection apps, SMS and voice reporting), digital decision-support workflows for common tasks (iCCM, ANC tracking, defaulter tracing), data protection and responsible use, device care and troubleshooting, and the human side: how digital tools change supervision, motivation, and community trust. No prior smartphone experience is required.

What You Will Learn

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Use a smartphone confidently for health work (calls, SMS, apps, charging discipline)
- Collect and submit data with mobile forms and offline-capable apps
- Follow digital decision-support workflows for common CHW tasks

Prerequisites

No prior digital experience required. Literacy in English or a local language sufficient for basic forms. Access to any mobile phone for practice exercises is helpful.
