About This Course

HIV remains a major public health challenge, and every health worker shares the mission to prevent new infections and keep people living with HIV healthy. Aligned with WHO guidelines, this course covers HIV transmission and natural history, testing services (including index and self-testing), antiretroviral therapy from initiation to viral suppression, prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT), management of opportunistic infections including TB coinfection, post-exposure and pre-exposure prophylaxis, and the psychosocial dimensions: stigma, disclosure, and adherence support. The course is for all cadres, clinical and community, serving adults, adolescents, and children.

What You Will Learn

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Explain HIV transmission, natural history, and prevention basics
- Deliver HIV testing services with the 5 Cs and link to care
- Initiate and support ART per test-and-treat guidelines
- Implement the PMTCT cascade including infant prophylaxis
- Recognise and manage common opportunistic infections and TB coinfection
- Provide PEP and PrEP services appropriately
- Combat stigma and support adherence and disclosure

Prerequisites

Open to all health workers and students. Basic clinical knowledge helps but the course builds concepts from the ground up.
